Anything you read about tanning beds being safe is false. The UVA rays you’re exposed to in a tanning bed are strongly linked to melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. The ONLY safe tan comes from a bottle.
The tanning salon industry has put out dangerous myths like, “You only get the healthy rays in tanning beds,” or “Use tanning beds to get your ‘base tan’ so you won’t burn.” These statements are absolutely false. Tanning beds use mostly UVA rays, which were once thought to be safer than UVB rays from the sun. Today’s research shows that both UVA and UVB rays can cause skin cancer. In fact, we now know that UVA rays are strongly linked to melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.
Be safe, don’t use tanning beds!
